HiSET Diploma
\r\nWe are currently looking at offering another graduation avenue for students that may be at-risk or in need of another option. The HiSET is the replacement of the GED and would give students, in certain situations and with approval, to take the HiSET and meet their graduation requirements for School District #28. This may be an option for students as early graduation 2018.
\r\nUpon notification of program approval the district will certify that:
\r\nThe proposal has been approved by the school board and is consistent with existing district policies, rules and contracts.
The district agrees to support the implementation of the HiSET Option Program as proposed in the district application.
The district agrees to the provisions and requirements of the HiSET Option Program.
The district agrees to provide information as requested by the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) in a timely manner.
The school board has read 10.55.906 of the Montana Annotated Code and understands their legal role in this process.
It is affirmed by the School Board that all HiSET Option students must be considered full-time students with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities that entails.

\r\nThe cover of this newsletter has a picture of the news release around iGraduate Montana which will replace Graduation Matters Montana. It appears to again have funding for the graduation efforts, college readiness and career opportunities.
\r\n“Makerspace” School District in Search of Innovation and Ideas
\r\nSchool District #28 is searching for ideas to fill our new makerspace in the elementary school. We want to also add a makerspace to the middle and high school. To describe them simply, makerspaces are community centers with tools. Makerspaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone.
\r\nThese spaces can take the form of loosely-organized individuals sharing space and tools, for-profit companies, non-profit corporations, organizations affiliated with or hosted within schools, universities or libraries, and more. All are united in the purpose of providing access to equipment, community, and education, and all are unique in exactly how they are arranged to fit the purposes of the community they serve.

\r\nCommunity Breakfast
\r\nOur first quarter community breakfast will be October 27, 2017 at 7:30 am. We will be serving the best biscuits and gravy along with milk and coffee. See you there in the all-purpose room of the elementary.
\r\nCommunity Showcase
\r\nWe will again be having our community showcase this year 2018. We would like to hear from community what you would like to see. We have thought about breakout sessions to better inform parents about infinite campus, cyber bullying, internet safety or something fun like a family scavenger hunt that would include meaningful information for parents.
