💖 Why I Became a Teacher: I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember! Teaching young learners and watching them grow brings me so much joy. Seeing their excitement when something “clicks” makes every day rewarding.

As some of you may have seen, the City of St. Ignatius issued a safety announcement regarding an incident that occurred on our campus yesterday. I want to assure everyone that there was no threat to students or staff. The incident took place after school hours and is being handled by City Law Enforcement in coordination with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. We also want to thank Tribal Law Enforcement for their continued support.
The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. As a precaution, there is an increased law enforcement presence on campus today. However, there is no current threat or reason for concern within our schools.
Law enforcement agencies are actively managing the situation and are doing everything possible to ensure our campus remains safe. We will continue to keep our community informed as updates become available and as information can be shared.

Friday, October 31 at 12:30pm in the NEW GYM at the HIGH SCHOOL.
***Please note the location change from past years***
-Students will be given ample time to change for the parade. Students should not wear their costumes to school.
-Please plan accordingly if your student needs assistance with changing/makeup. Minimal makeup is appreciated.
-Fake weapons, even if part of a costume, are not allowed at school.
-No fake blood or masks.
-Please avoid gory/violent costumes. Student costumes should still comply with school and district dress code. Our goal is not to scare/be scared.
The all district Spooky Round Dance will begin right after the parade!

Mr. Kline has been teaching for “too long” (his words!). Over the years, he has taught every grade from K–8 and has also held leadership roles from K–12.
💡 Inspiration
Teaching is in his blood—his dad was a teacher. While in college to play hockey, he had to pick a degree, so he chose education—and the rest is history!
🤫 Surprising Fact
Students might be surprised to learn that Mr. Kline enjoys “secret sandwiches” before heading home from work so he doesn’t have to share them with anyone.
📖 Favorite Read-Aloud
There’s an Alligator Under My Bed is one of his favorites to read.

As a student himself, Mr. Kline didn’t have a favorite subject—it was always about the teacher. If the teacher was good, the subject didn’t matter.

Mr. Kline’s advice is practical: consider attending a low-cost college for business, then join the military as an officer. If you do go to college, he suggests going out of state far enough that it takes more than a day to drive back—because it’s a great way to broaden your experience.

Do you have concerns about your child’s development? Our school is hosting a Child Find screening on Tuesday, October 7, from 9:00–11:30 AM at the Elementary School.
Child Find is a free opportunity to check your child’s progress in areas such as speech, language, motor skills, and early learning. Screenings are available for children ages 0 through 5 who are not yet in kindergarten.
If you’d like more information or to schedule a time, please call the Special Education office at 406-745-3811 x1032. Walk-ins are also welcome!

Mrs. Plant has been teaching for an incredible 22 years. She spent 4 years in preschool, 12 years in NAS, and 6 years in kindergarten before joining us in TKO.
☕ Favorites
Her go-to snacks are Skinny Pop and caramels, and when it comes to coffee, she loves a pumpkin chai tea.
🎨 Fun & Personal
Outside of school, Mrs. Plant is incredibly talented—she loves to sew and design Native American/Powwow regalia for her family. She is also a jingle dress dancer, a meaningful and beautiful tradition she carries forward.
💡 Favorite Teaching Memory
One moment that always makes her smile: while getting her students ready for PE, she told them, “It’s time to go to gym.” A student quickly asked, “Who is Jim?”
We are so lucky to have Mrs. Plant’s experience, creativity, and joyful spirit as part of our school community! 💛

We had the privilege of having Rocky Herron bring his I Choose My Future drug prevention presentation to MHS/MMS. He brought along friends Les Lefthand and Will Janisch from the Montana Attorney General's office. They did great and our students were engaged. Thank you Rocky, Les, and Will!
